GOINGS ON
There are all sorts of fun things going on at the WHS Library! Now that it's summer, we want to make sure that you continue to read and avoid that reading slide. Check out our Book Recommendations Page for great suggestions. Some of you have required reading for class - we have information on that, too. Check it out!
Next year, we have all sorts of fun library events in store for you. In the fall, we'll have Teen Read Week, which involves contests, prizes, and even a movie (from a book, of course!). There's also National Poetry Month, Banned Books Week, and School Library Month. Make sure to stop by and see what we've got going on!

Promoting Literacy
We at the WHS Library strongly believe in promoting early literacy. That's why we've spent the last five years working with the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy through the Teen Trendsetters program. At the beginning of each year, we recruit between 20 and 30 high school students and pair them with 1st graders (mentees) at the Primary School. For one period, once a week, the high schoolers (mentors) walk down to the Primary School (no matter the weather!) and read with their mentees. It's been a huge success each year. The mentees look forward to meeting with their mentors each week!

Teen Trendsetter Mission
"The mission of the Barbara Bush Foundation is to advocate for and establish literacy as a value in every home."
